Igor Piačka was born in 1962 in the town of Třebíč. He studied at the College of Fine Arts in Bratislava (1983-88), studio of free graphic and book-making under professor Albín Brunovský. Later he studied at Academie Royale des Beaux Arts under professor Philippe Maes in Brussels (1987-88). From 1990 to 2003 worked as a pedagogue and lecturer at the College of Fine Arts in Bratislava, in the course of figural painting at the department of graphic art. In 1999 was invited to take part in an international project in Art Studio Itsukaichi in Tokyo, Japan.
Since 1996 he has been a member of the Association of Graphic Artists and Hollar.
Since 2003 has worked as a free-lance artist and is interested in painting, graphic, drawing, illustration and postage stamp design.
