Dalibor Smutný was born in Hořice v Podkrkonoší (a region under the Giant Mountains, Northern Bohemia) on May 22, 1964. In 1979-82 studied at Secondary School of Applied Bijouterie in the town of Jablonec nad Nisou, between 1982-88 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.
Since 1991 has worked at the Academy in Prague as an assistant professor in Graphic I. atelier. Now lives and works in Prague and Rasochy.
